I don't have word on this computer right now, but I seem to remember you can dive more deeply in the autocorrect options to pick out which words get autocorrected. There's probably an entry for hsi->his in there that can be removed.

I think you're right--or you can tell it to leave alone all instances of hsi, or to ignore all caps. It is flexible, no doubt.

Great wits are sure to madness near allied.--John Dryden, "Absalom and Achitophel"

Would the ISP look down on the computer-as-webhost idea behind .Mac IP tracking? I've heard that they come down hard on people who try to use their regular DSL or cable modem accounts for this instead of using a specific webhosting plan. I can't imagine that this would be viable for dial-up users. There would have to be some sort of elective to do this given the bandwidth constraints.

By Sherlock going .Mac, would this mean all of Sherlock, or just "advanced" features?

Me? I'm just looking for iPhoto 2! :-)

I would say that nobody using a dial-up account would have any idea why you would want this feature, and if they did, they certainly would know enough not to actually use it because of the slow connection speeds. As far as broadband ISPs complaining about you bandwidth useage... I can't see why they would complain... they make more money if you go over your limit. Besides, it's not like a ton of people would use a .Mac account as a commercial web host.

[color:red]What? I don't understand. What?

LeComputier is right about broadband ISPs stating up front that they will not allow that kind of usage. I've got a Verizon DSL, and the contract states clearly that I cannot use my account for web serving, period. On the other hand, I wonder if I could do it from my school account. That would be what I'd try to do--and then the IT guy could yell at me for doing it.

Great wits are sure to madness near allied.--John Dryden, "Absalom and Achitophel"

My ISP also states that I can't use it as a web host. But I've used WebSharing for 3 years so my client could download files from my computer directly and Cox Communications knew I did it because I told them I was doing it. I think they consider what I was doing different than "HOSTING"...

[color:red]What? I don't understand. What?

i imagine most of us would be fine with the limited traffic we would recieve. we wouldn't be a blip on the radar screen as far as our ISP is concerned. they are more concerned with someone setting up a site that will generate traffic (e.g., porno stuff) or hotline-type accounts (imho). i have the same stipulation and have placed surveys on my computer using filemaker pro and had 60+ students take the survey off of my computer over 3 days...not a peep from my ISP.

[color:blue] -sean
