AW has one great advantage over MS Office. It doesn't quit randomly in X.

There are other advantages, not quite so great, but nice, like for instance AW doesn't think that it knows what you want to type better than you do.

I don't mean that Apple shouldn't make AW more robust--but I sure hope they don't go the way of Office.

Great wits are sure to madness near allied.--John Dryden, "Absalom and Achitophel"

yeah,AW is quite good. but the spreadsheet is so hard to use compared to excel. at least they should turn Appleworks into cocoa. maybe someday we can get rid of Microsoft Office X after apple decide to work hard on developing a good office

rakka

Great Day!

Yep. IE it is. Someday I'll stop using it, but there are some things it does that no other browser does, so I keep it as default. I know it's not the case, really, but because it's free, I think of it as less seriously giving in to the dark side than by using Office. But I can't do without Office because that's what everyone at work uses.

Great wits are sure to madness near allied.--John Dryden, "Absalom and Achitophel"

In reply to:

AW doesn't think that it knows what you want to type better than you do.

So true YoYo... I have a client named "Holiday Systems International." However, they go by HSI. Whenever I'm using Office/Entourage, it automatically changes HSI to HIS. Even using the backspace key after it's typed doesn't work, it keeps changing it back. The only way to get it to stay HSI is to continue typing, and go back afterwards and change them by hand. This is one of the reasons I switched from Entourage to MAIL (that, and I didn't want to be dependant on an app that cost $400 and may or may not be around for a while.)

[color:red]What? I don't understand. What?

You can disable tha autocorrect thing, MacGizmo. I always do. Some of the texts I type into my computer are original-spelling things form the 16th and 17th century. Word always "corrects" those idiotic know-nothings from back then, of course. So early on I had to figure out a way to get it to stop doing that. In the Tools menu go to the AutoCorrect option, and then in the AutoCorrect tab, make sure that the replace text as you type box is NOT checked.

Great wits are sure to madness near allied.--John Dryden, "Absalom and Achitophel"

Oh, I know I could do that, but other than that word, I like having it on... it's just another PITA thing about MS I don't like.

[color:red]What? I don't understand. What?
