What, you laugh at me instead of coming up with any point or reason. That really shows your intelligence!!

----
Stupidity is like nuclear power. It can be used for good or evil.... and you don't want to get any on you.

Can we get a troll forum too. Who wants to ignore them when we can verbally beat them up. My sockpuppet needs a workout.

Since they're not going to get banned and half the forum wants them to express their opinions no matter how ridiculous, we need a place to practice our "dog kicking" skills.

And what happens if a general discussion degenerates into a heated discussion?

And on the other side of the coin, what if a heated discussion turns into a love fest?

It just won't work!

I agree with you Mike in that we don't need another forum. I believe there are too many on the front of the forum page as it is. I remeber when Stan asked about cutting it down. I been around here since Stan created this site. I lurked a long time until one of the call outs, were made in a lurker thread. I like most others choose which threads to skip and which to read, either by subject or by poster. What make it hard is when an individual post junk or rude comments in every thread.

FWIW:

We had such a forum on two of my former Forums,
and the idiots still managed to push them over the top.

It became a troll zone for just as you said;
people that loved aggravating into heated arguments just to play
"the poor victim role". When the thread got too hot to handle
they'd troll for the inevitable "pop-in-the-chops" just so they
could go running to the mods, tears flying, pig-tails bouncing,
etc. to have the thread moved (BANISHED) to the other area.
They were the kiss of death for any thread they entered, and
people began avoiding the forum, in the attempt to avoid them.

Then there were the trolls that used it as a spot where they
could trash the place like going over to the rough side of town
for the night, breaking bottles, p*ssing in hallways, and kicking
garbage cans to wake up the residents. Most of them were real
"Jekyll & Hydes" too. The board suck-ups in one forum, and the
worst offenders in the other. Their mission was to ride the line
between being as offensive as possible but just short of being
banned.

Eventually it divided the forum into the old familiar "Us/Them"
mentality. It was dealing the Mods & administrators such fits,
just refereeing & breaking up fights, and sitting in judgement of
what was over the top etc. that it became more trouble than
what it was worth, and they had to be closed down.

MacDaddy commented on how forum-wise I seemed the day I
joined, I said something like, yeah, I'm "New" but not "a Newbie".
I've been a member of a few of the biggies, and have met most
of the forum types already, that's why I have little patience when
I run into the Too Familiar Denizens, that have me slapping my fore
head, mumbling: "Awwwww, Gezis Haightch!!! Not another one!!!"

About the only thing I've encountered here that has been unique,
is the sock puppet game. We only had ONE such person in all the
time I've ever been on forums, and she became universally hated.
She and her boyfriend, eventually managed to drive away so many
members that it closed the biggest Mac Forums there ever was.

Just my Dos Pazuzzas
Cheers

PS:
I was one of said residents the garbage can kicks would awaken.
I LIVED in those forums rather than eat the pablum on offer in the
OTHER other forum, (what you call "fluff" here.)

[color:green]"...or am I a butterfly that's dreaming she's a woman?"
Edited by Celandine on 04/07/04 06:49 PM (server time).
