Agreed and if our new visitor "srumrill" wants Mac stuff he should visit the Mac local which is pretty much immune from political posts.

And please remember folks how the administrators here defined the Member's Lounge.

MEMBER'S LOUNGE:

"Lounge Lizards Only: There may very well be more to talk about than just Macs, believe it or not. This part of the Café is a place to talk about whatever tickles your fancy. Grab a cup of your favorite brew and come on in."

Note the "whatever tickles your fancy" part. 'Nuf said.

I'm on a "politics-free Wednesday" - no reading political posts or writing them ...

As much as I like to get into those discussions, it's become pretty tiresome due to the sheer volume and overall increased shrillness of tone of political posts on the various boards lately ... so time to take a break ...

;-)

***matt

Turn up the signal, wipe out the noise ...

Preferrably .. Though it is apparently unsociable.. I still prefer to keep political opinion in the open for at least those whom may never otherwise have an opinion this way or that, may help to temper the arguments towards rapid conclusions.

For all political arguments are best ended quickly in public rather than allowed to fester behind closed doors.

In reply to:

You buy a newspaper. It has this in it and that in it. Politics, sports, business, the lighter side, human interest stories, etc. So, you read what interests you, skip what doesn't interest you. It's really that simple.

Yes, but using your newspaper example, there are SECTIONS that are devoted to politics, that I can completely ignore if I wanted. Just think of how much a pain in the butt a newspaper would be if it weren't organized and separated. That's what the lounge forum is like. And there seems to be enought politics here to warrant it's own forum.

A separate forum would be the equivalent of a section of a newspaper. People could stay out of the forum if they're not intersted, and others (like you) could specifically participate if they wanted to. AND you would be spared the "fluff".

A separate forum for the fluff? Fine with me. But the member's lounge just seems like it would be a place for fluff. Either way, these boards have become hostile and non-inclusive with the political jarring on both sides. I'm just trying to make it a more friendly place.
