How's this for humble beginnings?

Harry S. Truman, the 33rd president, was born in Lamar, Missouri: humble beginnings on a farm only graduating from high school; Military duty rising to captain in the National Guard; US Democratic politician; judge of Eastern District of Jackson County, Missouri 1922-1924; studied at night from 1923-1925 at the Kansas City School of Law: presiding judge of Jackson County, Missouri 1926-1934; Senator from Missouri 1935-1945; vice-president of US 1945; 33rd president of US 1945-1953.

Of course I imagine by the time he became senator and what not, he had some money stashed away. I bet he didn't ignore his National Guard duties either, not like Harry "The buck stops here" S. Truman to do something flaky like that.
