In Hungary we don't have a boxing day. We open presents on the Xmas Eve before the dinner. I have many boxes waiting for me at home. I wonder what I got. Just few hours more! I hope you all getting what you crave for.

Still several hours to go before I know, it's only 6:30 over here.

My family always celebrated on Christmas Eve in Germany and that carried over to our lives in the US, Christmas Day did not really ever have much significance for us. Different cultures, different traditions.

Well, I know one thing we got and that's our new home. Anything else we happen to get is frosting on the cake.

Still the wee hours of the morning here. It's a family tradition that we open one gift (usually a small one) the night before Christmas. Then after the kids go to bed I bring out all the gifts I had hidden away, so when they come out it looks like Santa unloaded a whole bag at one stop.

I don't know what I want this year. Well, I do, but it's not something you could get in a store.

Merry Christmas to every one.

The thread killer
My family has a big Christmas Eve dinner, and those of us that are still very Catholic leave for Midnight Mass after dinner. When those folks get back, it is officially Christmas Day (at 1am) and we all sit down and open presents. By the time we go to bed, it's 3 or 4 in the morning.

Should go quicker this year. Everyone is pretty strapped for cash this year after a shaky employment year for everyone—so there's certainly no abundance of gifts this year. All the siblings that have had children (or are about to) this year have agreed to only buy gifts for each other's children and none for each other so we can buy nicer things for the kids (besides, that's where all our money is going now anyway )
