where were you when President Kennedy was assasinated?

I was sitting in my 5th grade class when came a knock at the door. My teacher kind of stood half-in half-out of the doorway while listening to another teacher as she whispered what was going on.

I was living in Sault Ste. Marie, MI and was bussed to school in a town called Rudyard.

That, was the day that changed my life forever! Nothing ever seemed right with the world after that.

It was the first time I ever seen my dad cry and I do believe me mother went mad. My mom, who was from Dublin married an American serviceman, and no doubt held Mr. kennedy in pretty high esteem! Yes sir. I do believe she hitch her hopes and dreams on this rising young political star only to have it all fall apart.

"640K ought to be enough for anybody." - Bill Gates

I was walking home from highschool, and some friends drove by and broke the news to me. It hit me pretty hard, though it took a few days for it to really sink in.

I just wish the freakin' media would let it lie already, instead of using it as a ratings tool.

With great respect to Kennedy. (Whom was shot twice). grassy knoll... CIA, orders from EJH
Arnie and JFK had one thing in common... rumours of womanising.
not that this worries Arnie but JFK was a 'good' Catholic.

and lets face it .. if you had to wake up to Arnie as governor would not you be wondering how to alter that scenario?

-----------------------------------------------------------------
"Behold the Turtle, he maketh no progress ==== until he sticketh out his neck."
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, Kennedy was known to be a womanizer, as is Schwarzenneger. And both are reputed to have had other dubious dealings and associations. Hardly angels, but hardly Saddam Hussien wannabe's.

But assasination is/was justafiable in both cases in your view?

Eeeeeeookee-dokie there, TB. Remind me not to get on your bad side (if I'm not already)...

In reply to:

That's a very uncool, thing to say — even as a joke.

Sorry if I hurt your feelings. I guess I'm uncool, I don't have any feelings towards JFK. That's all I wanted to express. I wasn't even born when he died.

In reply to:

Not only is it a slap to Kennedy's memory, but what did Schwarzenegger ever do to you?

If you fail to see the connection between them, read this:

"When Arnold Schwarzenegger was elected last month as California's new governor - perhaps in part on the glitz and glamour of his ties to the Kennedy family - Sen. Edward Kennedy offered a telling remark. "What better proof could there be that America really is a nation of immigrants?" Kennedy asked in a prepared statement, a reference to Schwarzenegger's all-American, up-by-the- bootstraps immigration story.

But his observation had a further resonance - one that holds the key to understanding the most profound and longest-lasting legacy of John F. Kennedy's presidency. "A Nation of Immigrants" is the title of a small book written by Kennedy shortly before his 1960 election as U.S. president. It is a work largely ignored by journalists and biographers blinded by the Camelot image, but one that would ultimately - and quite literally - change the face of America."

[color:green]One man's compost is another man's potpourri.

You didn't hurt my feelings. But as you say, you weren't even on the planet during the Kennedy admin. Kinda limits your ability to draw a fair conclusion. And as skeevy as both men are reputed to be or have been, wishing them dead is a bit over the top, and just a wee bit immature. Just my .02. Take it or leave it.

In reply to:

But assasination is/was justafiable in both cases in your view?

Oh, now I got what you meant by your comment few posts earlier! I didn't mean assasination at all. I meant that Arnold can follow the good path in politics by becoming a president and doing good stuff like JFK. Of course, no way I want Arnold to be assasinated.

[color:green]One man's compost is another man's potpourri.
