I tried to make a DVD backup of my Home folder (wich fit nicely 4.2 GB) with my superdrive that shiped with my G4 and using OS X 10.1.5 buit in disc burner. It would go through the process of burning and it would finish like normal but when i tried to read it after ejecting it dosen't show up at all. i put in a DVD movie and it worked fine and i burned a cd that worked too. i have also burned a sucsesful DVD on Apple's DVD-Rs. the olny thing i am doing different is i just bought new generic DVD-Rs from on online store (they were DVD-Rs not DVD+Rs) could that be the problem or is it somthing else?

Apple recommends using ONLY Apple-branded DVD's for burning with the SuperDrives. It is very likely that this is the problem you are experiencing.

[color:red]semicolon dash parenthesis

I tried a test DVD and burned a 96K folder and the same thing happened, and it burned to 1/3 of the disk. i thought that was odd considering i only put 96K onto a 4.7GB DVD.... Any ideas at all??

I can't confirm that, the only thing I can say is that the Mac web is full of people who have tried various brands of DVDs, and the only ones that work consistantly are the Apple-branded ones. Sorry I can't be of more help.

[color:red]semicolon dash parenthesis
