I've got it running on my PBG4 and it was painless. It is indeed faster at startup and login. Windows are a bit snappier and the iApps seem to be a bit quicker too. I would say that it isn't quite as much of a speed difference as I've been reading about, but then again I'm using a PBG4 with a Radeon card with only 16MB. Perhaps the Quartz acceleration really does require 32MB.

So far the coolest thing to me is the new Sherlock. I love the built-in language translator. The other "watson functions" are very nice too, of course.

Hmmm, I can't seem to import my addresses from the previous address book into the new 10.2 one? It seems that the reference file in the old Library is a different format than the new one.

Damn, I'm jealous!

I actually got an educational discount for Jaguar at $69 and it is definitely worth that already. I just loaded it so it will take me a while to examine all the new goodies and whether it really offers better performance. But, it is supposed to have something like 150 new features, so that's what? 86¢/feature? Not a bad deal.

I just checked my account at the Apple Store. Still "partially shipped" [sad]

Great wits are sure to madness near allied.--John Dryden, "Absalom and Achitophel"

Sorry yoyo, its coming...

Just an update after messing with it some. Mail is definitely improved. Its really quite nice, most all the functions I hoped for are there. I wish it would allow me to queue messages going out, though. If anyone finds a way to get it to do this, I'd sure appreciate it.

The "spinning beachball" is indeed gone, but the replacement (a spinning pinwheel?) is somewhat frequent on my PBG4 with the 667 processor. Don't get me wrong, it isn't popping up near as much, but it certainly isn't gone either.
Numerous little enhancements like new keyboard shortcuts (eg. command-option-h hides everything but the front application) and much improved networking settings are great.

My first impression is: great new features, but speed increase not that noticeable. Plus, some built in things are either slower or less stable than before. For example, help viewer and preview are both unstable and considerably slower than in 10.1.5.

I'll be very interested to here what everyone on this forum thinks on monday...

Thanks for the comforting words, Trog--but here it is, 11:04 on Thursday, and it's still only partially shipped

Great wits are sure to madness near allied.--John Dryden, "Absalom and Achitophel"

It's shipped! It's shipped! I don't know anything else, like the FedEd number, but the site says it's shipped. Oh joy.

Great wits are sure to madness near allied.--John Dryden, "Absalom and Achitophel"
