Ever have one of those CDs by one of your favorite artists that completely lost you...only to find out maybe years later it's an incredible piece of work? Here's one by Neil Finn that i didn't understand until I saw most of it performed on Sessions At West 54th...

Neil Finn / Try Whistling This (1998)

===================
[color:blue]"Does This Hole In The Ground Make My Ass Look Fat?"
----
S3V3N
Washington, DC USA
The Tragically Hip - In Violet Light

Most of their albums are all like that. I get the latest one, don't listen to it that much, but after a while it grows on me.

BTW, nice pick. I like Neil Finn (and Crowded House).

I just watched Neil Finn's "Session at 54th" DVD this last weekend. It's a good one to own. I liked the band he toured with this year much better (hear an archived show at KCRW.org), but I agree with you, 'Try Whistling This' is a brilliant work all the way through. If you're not familiar with him, go take a 30 sec listen at iTMS to 'Sinner', 'Truth' and 'Addicted'.

I converted my Sessions at 54th DVD into MP3 last night (for personal use only). Now I have it on my iPod. That performance was a great primer for Try Whistling This. It's a CD that gets into your skull when you aren't looking. The follow up One Nil (or One All) is just as excellent.

===================
[color:blue]"Does This Hole In The Ground Make My Ass Look Fat?"
----
S3V3N
Washington, DC USA
