I am planning on buying a iBook. I already have a Dell laptop and it is hooked up to a cable modem for the internet and i was wondering if any hub would work to hook up both computers to the cable modem.

no, not just any hub will work...

you need a router (unless the cable modem does that too) to split the signal... there's more to it than that, but an Airport base station could easily be used as your router, and wireless access point for the iBook, and it'd work well.

You could also set up a software router on one of your machines, but I'd stay away from that...

Look into getting a Ugate router, I have one and it rocks...

they might also be called "sharing gateway" so look for those too...

good luck.

"In the old days, you'd finish a day's work and announce, 'I'm done.'
