I am signing up for OptimumVoice, and they're coming to install it on Friday..It's through the cable modem.

According to the FAQ on the site, you CAN fax through this service- through the modem that they install. I imagine because if the phone signal can transmit through the cable, so could a fax signal...

Of course, I've been using VOIP for the last 2 years and it works great on DIAL-UP!! You just need a good voice compressor device, such as IPSTAR.

[color:blue]Your unsolicited Apple authority

We use Cisco IP Phones at work and I like the features.

All calls between our worldwide offices are carried over IP, reducing the cost of long distance calls. All other calls go through normal landlines. The feature that I like the most is having the corporate LDAP directory accessed from the telephone, so I can search for a colleague's name and make the call. The other feature is accessing my voice mail through email as a .wav file, and that gives you flexibility.

The thing that I hate the most is not having access to telephones and normal landlines when our broadband connection has a problem.

Waleed's Gallery
Edited by walzuhair on 11/06/03 04:44 AM (server time).
