I replaced my 1st Generation 5GB iPod last weekend with a new 20GB 3G iPod.

Anybody know why song transfers/ejecting the 3G iPods is so much slower? I sit and watch the beachball for almost 1.5 minutes before ejecting and song transfers sometimes freezes iTunes. My desktop is a G4 Quicksilver.

It's seriously annoying.

"Does This Hole In The Ground Make My Ass Look Fat?"
----
S3V3N
Washington, DC USA
Last night I too replaced my 5GB with 20GB 3G iPod.
I just checked and mine mounts and unmounts very quickly.
Song Transfers also happen quite quickly as well.

The 20GB is soooo much nicer than the 5GB.
I had to replace the 5GB because it wouldnt hold a charge for than 2 hours. We now use it as a portable 5GB hard drive for back up.

nope. My new 3G iPod came loaded with firmware 2.0.2. 2.0.2 is not even included on the CD that came with it (not that I tried downgrading the firmware).

I haven't been able to figure out what the problem is...I hope today's firmware upgrade fixes the problem...or maybe I'll exchange it for another. I also can hear a faint dull *tick* sound when transferring songs. Maybe it's the disk?

"Does This Hole In The Ground Make My Ass Look Fat?"
----
S3V3N
Washington, DC USA
Could be the disk. If it does not work properly I would fix it ASAP. I don't know if you had problems with the 5GB iPod, but I did and I think I would have better off if I had done something about the problems sooner.....
