Howard Goodall (conducting) who is telling the 'Story of Music' in a six part series on BBC TV introduced this aria from the oratorio 'Solomon' by Handel with the words:

The Queen of Sheba knew she would never encounter a man of Solomon's wisdom again. It's debatable whether music will ever surpass the creative ingenuity and spiritual candour of the masterpieces of Bach and Handel either..."
