I know - just seems odd - should be murder with a sub child abuse. I means the same still it could sound like child abuse (neglect) that resulted in death or leaving a kid in a hot car = it is murder period, they should not sugar coat it with child abuse , that comes later in court as just one of the counts against the perp.
