Lost contact with SERVER for whatever reason... trying to recreate common diary.

I have a Calendar text file exported from an offline Mac.

I have set up a replacement server - new name new port number

Is this procedure OK?

1 Go to a client machine, ask for a new BLANK diary

2 Create a server connection on the client Server Name, IP address and Port Number, up date this server

3 Import text file, DEFINE CATEGORIES and move Public Categories to SERVER side

4 Repeating this process on next client results in bottom right of NUDC screen indicating <<sending edits to server>>, this takes forever and then Diary is Blank

where am I going wrong, please?...
