The IDE cable is nothing to worrie about. It has a bigger connecter because the CD-ROM/DVD drives that was made for it uses the IDE controllor to power it with 5 volts. The cable looks like

You can easily modify that SCSI cable. One side connects to the logicboard, center connecter goes to the CD-ROM/DVD and take a 40pin connector from a IDE cable and strip off a few wires from the SCSI cable and make it into IDE for the HD.
